Year 2020; predictions about science-religion dialogue

On October 3-5, 2003 was a conference at Berkeley titled: The Past and Future of the Science-Religion Dialogue: Celebrating the work of Ian G. Barbour. Since the future was almost totally missing and the religion was negligible, this is a faith portrayal of the future. It takes the position of the Science-Religion dialogue at the year of 2020. Basically it is a Monday quarterbacking about the Sunday game. It looks from the year of 2020 back to the conference at 2003. Of course, hindsight is 2020.

The conference rightfully honored Ian G. Barbour life’s work in starting the science-religion dialogue. The conference in football terms could be described as fumbling the ball and unable to cross the line of scrimmage. It consisted of instant replays after instant replays. An example of fumbling the ball was when Ian described the Big Bang Theory on the first day of the conference. He said that at time zero that the laws of physics don’t apply. He and others on the panel didn’t take it the next logical step and say that the next moment doesn’t work and the next moment doesn’t work and the whole concept of the Big Bang Theory doesn’t work.

By 2020 the Big Bang Theory was abandoned and replaced by the Quasar Theory. Back in 03 Cosmologists didn’t have a clear concept of the cause of temperature. In 2020 it was widely known that temperature was the rate of movement of electrons. Since there is a maximum speed of the movement of electrons there is a maximum temperature of about 35 million degrees. It is like there is a maximum temperature for boiling water. The maximum temperature rules out any concept of the early phase of the Big Bang Theory. The problem back in 03 was that they were struggling with the concept of particle or wave, or both a particle and a wave.

By 2020 we had a clearer concept how chemical elements were formed. Back in 03 it was theoretical with sequence and the need for a second generation by exploding supernovas. Now we realize that the powerful x-rays are breaking up atoms. So in an ordinary sun the x-rays are breaking up atoms. The interior of a sun is made up of a soup of atomic parts. That also means that these parts of atoms are occasionally snapping together. All atoms are being formed in ordinary suns.

Another idea that helped kill the Big Bang Theory was another explanation for the red shift. After finding areas without stars, it was also discovered that those areas were a wall of intense energies. That wall of energy slowed down the passage of light. So the universe wasn’t expanding. The Quasar Theory had the universe growing, quasar by quasar.

Back in 03 God was spoken about in an abstract way. By 2020 the three persons of the Trinity was looked at as parents. With three persons it was necessary to understand how three could create. It was developed that seven children would be the natural result. The seven children should also be interpreted as seven qualities. Then when it was considered as a family, the idea of ten became a natural result. That is the parents and their creations, or three and seven equals ten.

God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit were considered as God number one, God number two, God number three, respectively. A sense of the qualities of the three was somewhat arrived at by looking how humans normally look at patterns of threes; such as: action, reaction, and synthesis; or parent, child, and adult; or red, yellow, and blue; or gold, silver, and bronze; or executive, legislative, and judicial; or science, religion, and philosophy; or matter, spirit, and mind.

Likewise, there was a pattern of seven, which indicated the creative pattern from the three persons of the Trinity. One would have the main quality of the Father, two has the quality of the Son, three has the quality of the Holy Spirit, four has the quality of the combined natures of the Father and the Son, five has the quality of the Father and the Holy Spirit, six has the quality of the Son and the Holy Spirit, and seven has the quality of the combined natures of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Subconsciously when humans grouped things into sevens, we followed the seven creative patterns from the three persons of the Trinity.

By noticing the patterns of threes and sevens the natures of the three persons of the Trinity began to be seen as three distinct persons. Relating the pattern of seven to the spectrum makes it more scientific. Colors are of increasing vibration from red to violet and from a psychological viewpoint it is from the personal to the institutional, from simple to complex, from physical to spiritual. God the Son began to be considered more as God the Mother and so in the pattern of sevens the second, fourth, sixth, and seventh had a more feminine nature. In a sequence it operated as every other one would be more of a feminine quality. The seventh was not as strong but the alternating pattern was seen as the seventh part would be divided into two with the first half as masculine and the second half as feminine. Masculine was more scientific, while feminine was more religious. These alternating patterns began to be noticeable as history was studied and the psychology of colors was developed. For example, the Reformation Age was religious and the Enlightenment Age was scientific.

Patterns of threes, sevens, and tens are noticed in the periodic table of elements. Patterns of sevens somewhat shows up with seven classes of active elements and a class of inactive elements that acts somewhat like a space or a period. An example of a class of elements would be the column of: fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine, and astatine. Patterns of tens are shown as a subgroup row of scandium #21 to zinc #30, and yttrium #39 to cadmium #48, and Lutetium #71 to mercury #80.

The pattern of ten is also shown by the subconscious naming of elements. Those at the end of a pattern of ten tend to have the first letter of their name at the end of the alphabet. For example, zinc #30, zirconium #40, ytterbium #70, yttrium #39.

The pattern of ten is also shown in the abundance of elements. An element that starts a pattern of ten is less abundant. Basically, it means that it is less stable. These are based on one trillion hydrogen atoms. Note how less number 11 sodium of 1,900,000 compared to number 10 neon of 130,000,000; number 21 scandium of 1,100 compared to number 20 calcium of 140,000; number 31 gallium of 630 compared to number 30 zinc of 28,000; number 41 niobium of 7.9 compared to number 40 zirconium of 560; number 51 antimony of 10 compared to number 50 tin of 100; number 61 promethium not found on earth compared to number 60 neodymium of 18; number 71 lutecium of 6 compared to number 70 ytterbium of 8; number 81 thallium of 8 compared to number 80 mercury of 100. Those that start a new row of ten are a lot less than the end element of the previous row. The consistency would suggest it really applies to a principle.

The pattern of threes in the periodic table of elements is shown by the grouping of the patterns of ten. The first thirty elements are grouped together, the second group of thirty elements, that is from 31 to 60 are grouped together, the third group of thirty elements, that is from 61 to 90, are grouped together. An indication that these are groups is shown that the beginning of the groups is much less abundant. That is gallium that starts the second group has only 630 atoms per one trillion hydrogen atoms, and promethium that starts the third group isn’t found on earth.

Likewise, the pattern of threes combined with the pattern of sevens shows up. The element technetium #43 isn’t found on earth. This is similar to the same principle that promethium isn’t found on earth. That is the element that starts a new group is less abundant. When you consider the patterns of threes and the pattern of sevens you get patterns of 21. So the second group of 21 would end with number 42. Number 43 starts the next group of 21. Only elements 43 and 61 of the 92 elements are missing. That is dramatic proof of the pattern of threes in the periodic table of elements.

The creative pattern of the three persons of the Trinity produces patterns of threes, sevens, and tens. These patterns of threes, sevens, and tens show up in the periodic table of elements. That is like a fingerprint of God. The patterns suggest that we live in one possible universe. Many people consider it as scientific proof for the existence of God.
Back in 03 Scientists may have made additional elements by using a cyclotron. The amounts of those elements were in infinitesimal amounts that quickly disintegrated. With the idea of a pattern of ten it seems reasonable to expect that there would be 100 elements. The cyclotron was used to investigate the nature of matter. It bombarded matter with high energy. The problem with that concept is that it is like trying to discover how a house was built by dynamiting it.

Scientists found temporary forms of matter and assumed it represented more basic forms of matter. They built up theoretical ideas based on what they found. Theoretical ideas like anti matter just added more confusion. A better direction is to find ways to study faster movement and higher frequencies.

By 2020 through a combination of several disciplines the idea about the evolution of the planet became clearer. Religion, science, psychology of colors, history, and ecology combined to come up with a concept similar to point Omega as described by Pierre Teilhard de Chardin in The Phenomenon of Man. Ecologists frequently used the word green. Then psychologists got a clearer picture about the characteristics of colors and they found that green seemed to match ideas about ecology. Green from a scientific view is the fourth color of the spectrum. So green would be the half way point to point Omega. From a religious viewpoint four relates with Thyatira. “Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent their deeds.” That sure sounds like our times as the abortion questions are hotly debated. Also opening the third seal relates to the fourth (green) level. “And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand, and I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, a measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.” That sure seems to describe an ecology situation and really fits our time.

Note that the fourth virtue is justice, which would relate to balance. The fourth is the middle group and so would also point to the idea of a balance. So reading the signs of the times suggests that there is a growth of the soul of planet earth and we are at the half way point to the point Omega.

By the year of 2020 the science-religion dialogue became a three way dialogue of religion, philosophy, and science. It was of values, meanings, and knowledge. Each was aware of what they could contribute to human needs. Back in 03 the predominate attitude was of science. The problem was that many problems couldn’t be solved by only science. The spiritual and mental realities were ignored. Basically science was a dead end for many situations that now we regard as mental or spiritual.

The in-group of a discipline had the power. The public went along with the in-group of a discipline. Funding for research went to the in-group. The government and large philanthropic sources didn’t give to individuals or to out-groups. The exception was the Mac Arthur Fellows Program that gave to individuals. They did a good work by giving to individuals so the person could live for about five years on the grant.

The problem of giving to an in-group of a discipline is that they couldn’t tell the difference between a dead end or just an obstacle. You wouldn’t expect a discipline to say that they are at a dead end and should quit. The mind-body problem was where the mind advocates were the out-group and so lacked public support.
